Stiller plays nice guy Greg Focker (the surname presents half of the vulgar jokes in this movie), who's about to pop the question to his schoolteacher girlfriend, Pam (Teri Polo), just when she receives word that her younger sister is getting married.
With those proposal plans temporarily on hold, they drive to New York for the wedding, not to mention Greg's introduction to Pam's imposing dad, Jack (De Niro), and her mom, Dina (Blythe Danner). A retired horticulturist who thinks nobody's good enough for his first-born daughter, Jack has enough on Greg to question his merit as boyfriend material with his being a male nurse bearing an odd last name who doesn't share Jack's love of cats.
Despite Greg's efforts to make a good impression, things go from bad to disastrously worse. It turns out Jack's former job was just a cover for his real occupation -- CIA operative specializing in lie detection -- and he ends up with plenty of cause for suspicion. Expect all the sight gags, hectic scenario and uncomfortable situations that Ben Stiller movies love to provide. The movie is a typical performance by Ben Stiller. Watch out for unnecessary comments and unneeded innuendos. | |
