The year is 1971, and the political climate at T.C. Williams High is volatile to say the least. As a result of the Alexandria school board-imposed integration, Herman Boone (Denzel Washington) has been brought up from South Carolina to serve as head coach of the school's Titans football team.
But his arrival means a demotion for the current Titans coach, much-admired Bill Yoast (Will Patton), and his players don't take to kindly to the recent turn of events. Despite the tenseness of the situation, Yoast and Boone learn to overcome their differences and their highly individual coaching styles and work together to build a winning team, despite the prejudice and intolerance that flares up all around them. | |
