"You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it useful again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless. You are the light of the world -- like a city on a mountain, glowing in the night for all to see. Don't hide your light under a basket! Instead, put it on a stand and let it shine for all. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father. Matthew 5:13-16
Brothers & Sisters,
I just wanted to encourage you with some good news from Hilo. Two of our young brothers in the Lord are a light to Hilo and to the islands by playing basketball for the University of Hawaii Hilo and excelling. They are both the captains of the team and this past week Kyle Bartholomew was named Pac West Conference Player of the Week. Earlier this year Scott Prather was named PAC West player of the week 2 weeks in a row. They are making a impact and are doing great things for God. They have also excelled in school by getting above 3.0 in their grades this past semester.
This is a clip from this weeks HiloTribune Herald:
The 6'4 junior has been named the PWC player of the week after leading the red-hot Vulcans (13-2 overall, 3-0 PWC) to three straight conference wins. During the stretch, he averaged 15.3 points and 10 rebounds per game. He also recorded his seventh double-double of the season, with a 12 pt, 10 rebound, victory over visiting Montana State Billings on Monday night at the Civic. The Vulcan forward is currently 3rd in the PWC in rebounding (7.9), eighth in steals (1.47), eigth in scoring (14.0pg) and 9th in blocks (.67). The streaking Vulcans play PWC games at Brigham Young Universiity-Hawaii at 7:30pm Friday and Saturday at Laie, Oahu."
