Graduating Teens and Students Clean Up in School Honors ACES Online - Tuesday, December 10, 2002
The school year in the Southern hemisphere is drawing to a close, and many students are reaping the rewards of the year of learning that is now behind them. And strange as it seems to those who live in the Northern hemisphere, it is also the start of the summer holidays, and two or three months of relaxation, family time or new professions lie ahead. The high school students and the campus students in the Johannesburg Church of Christ have recently enjoyed 'end of year' celebrations where those who have excelled academically and on the sports fields have been honored.
Some of those honored are listed here:
From Pretoria University Anneke van der Walt, Gerdi Roussow, Jeanne Marie, Willian Frasier, Maryse Ash and Rachel Senradda passed with distinctions and Anthony Goslar and Esther Lightening passed their honors degrees from RAU cum laude. Clement Kganakga made best math student at Pretoria College and Brenda Maputla passed with four distinctions from Parktown College.
Ian Clark from Wits achieved four distinctions and Evans Magaoga and Silas Moloko were honored for coming first in their final year project in the school of Information and Electrical Engineering.
In the sports arena, Gerdi Roussow received colors for gymnastics from both the Province and Pretoria University. Joseph Nkone was made player of the year for the Wits reserve soccer team and voted best student teacher at Northcliff High school. He was also awarded a sports scholarship and he will be playing for the first division of the Wits soccer team in the premier league in 2003.
Jones Malakoane came first in the martial arts tournament and he will be part of the President's Team in the USA next year.
Two students have been recognized for their achievements in chess. Zweli Mabaso was awarded a sports scholarship for chess and Jacob Nkosi won a gold medal for winning the Chess Championship at Wits University.
For most of the 323 campus students in the Johannesburg Church it was a successful year and they will move on to the new challenges of 2003. God has blessed these disciples with a variety of talents and they are to be honored for their hard work and diligence in achieving excellence results for the Lord, and for setting a great example for those new students from the teen ministry who will arrive at their campuses next year. |
