 My mom has brought many special memories into my life. I remember when I was about 12 years old and she told me we were going to go on a shopping trip to Pleasanton for school clothes. We were living in the central valley of California in Modesto. Pleasanton was about one hour away, so it was only going to be a day trip. I had no idea that she had secretly packed my bags and was taking me to Santa Cruz. I was so surprised when we got there. We spent the whole weekend at a hotel on the beach, and we did our shopping in that area. We had so much fun together. It meant a lot to me then, and it still means a lot to me now, how much thought and planning she put into my happiness and our relationship.
Since I've become an adult, she has still worked hard to stay close to me. For about seven years, we lived states apart. Almost every day she called me, and she sent packages to our family about twice a month. My kids loved getting their packages from NaNa. Even with all the distance, there was no distance in heart; they knew exactly who NaNa was. She was there for me when I had all three of my children. She took care of my children when I found out I had cancer, during the surgery to remove it, and the recovery. She still helps my family every day by letting us stay with her until our house in another state sells. In 2002, I had my first daughter. My mom's example and love for me helps inspire and excite me about my relationship with my daughter. Thanks, Mom; I love you. Happy Mothers Day! | |
