It is a blessing to have Marlene Aguirre as my spiritual mom.  Six months after I became a disciple my spiritual mom/best friend left the church.  As a young disciple, it was hard for me to understand why she was leaving.  I became prideful, selfish, and doubtful.  I needed to see the right example of a disciple, but my pride blinded me to see the examples before me.   I prayed for a change of heart and for an example to follow.  God answered my prayer by putting before me Marlene, a sister in the single moms ministry.  Not knowing who I was, Marlene took the time to encourage me and build a friendship with me.  As our friendship grew, I was able to see her love for God and her convictions.  Her example of being a disciple encouraged me to fight for my relationship with God and helped me grow in every area of being a disciple.  Marlene has become one of my best friends as well as my spiritual mom.   She did not bring me to the kingdom but renewed my love and relationship with God.
