OF HEROES MINE
Of heroes mine I often speak
and list their mighty deeds
and tell the tale of valor spent
where good adventure leads.
But of these true and godly men,
one stands above the rest,
A knight in Spirit and in care
who taught me of what's best.
His friendship sparked fire in my heart
to battle for the good,
To take my stand against the dark,
and with me, Jack, he stood.
At times I fell, a wound I took
and wavered on the brink
Of losing all that I had gained
and back in mire sink.
But those dark hours were proving grounds
for bonds of loyalty.
This hero mine spoke truth in love
and helped me struggle free.
To Yosemite, in lighter days,
four brothers went to play;
This stalwart band, the Frisbee flew,
for nigh like half a day.
But when the sun began to sink
the car keys they had not;
In waist-high grass they combed the field
but searching came to nought.
'Twas Jack who stood and called these few
to prayer upon their knees,
And God who heard and quickly hence
delivered them the keys.
I've seen this man on mountaintops
glory crowned and conquering;
I've seen him in the valleys, too,
in mortal combat with death's sting.
And through these wars, God's forged a man
so steady and so whole,
A man who finds inspiring words
and speaks them to your soul.
At every point, so tried and true
ne'er could be greater friend;
Jack Riviere, extraordinaire,
he's with us to the end.
Now let me tell a deeper truth
of romance and of love.
Yes, even in this sacred realm,
Jack spoke for God above.
When all around me, they did scoff
and cast doubt upon my trust,
'Twas Jack who stood steadfast and said,
"Pursue her, that you must!"
So to win my beauty I did go
to distant foreign shores,
Inspired by my hero's words:
"Megumi, she is yours!"
Now full circle have we come,
love's once more in the air;
God has blessed this hero mine,
with his own princess fair.
To Helen I would testify
God's given you the best,
There is no other man like Jack;
to stand with you in the test.
So to you both, God's blessing all,
his love and treasures pure,
And to me sweet delight in this:
my hero's won his beauty sure.
