 | Family Means LOVE Mark Hoffman, Kennesaw, GA - Tuesday, July 08, 2003
In our family, we laugh a lot, sit together for dinner, and we all have chores to do. We go to the library together, we talk a lot, we share scriptures when something comes up. We have pillow fights, and about once a week we have Mom's famous homemade chocolate milkshakes and popcorn made the old-fashioned way. The kids beg for more, and somehow there always seems to be just enough.
In our family, Mom fixes lunch in the morning before school, and Dad calls every morning from work to wish the kids well with a prayer before school. Mornings include a quick scripture and thought for the day, and comments are encouraged. Fights do break out and sometimes the consequence is "you have no brother or sister for the rest of the day. You cannot be in the same room, talk to, look at your brother or sister until after dinner". Always there are tears, hugs, massive apologies when they can finally talk again.
Family is...going to the dollar theatre together...cooking for friends coming over to share in our household...teaching each other how to cook, sew, plant flowers. Family is everything together, good and bad, happy, and sad. It is Mom and Dad making tons of mistakes and getting the kids to help us be righteous. It is kids making tons of mistakes and surrounding it all with unconditional, kissable, huggable LOVE.
