Family is Group Hugs Marie Cox, Greenville, SC - Thursday, July 10, 2003
To me "family" brings to mind group hugs!
Our daughter Kaitlin came to us via Mainland China in 2000 at the age of 12 months. Needless to say, we have saturated her with hugs and kisses along the way. She particularly likes "group hugs" where all three of us hug each other as tightly as possible. I can hear her little laugh just thinking about it.
From the time my daughter was old enough to say "group" and "hug" together she would jump up on the couch and wave my husband, Rick, and me over to her. At the top of her lungs she announces "group hug", "group hug". We all hug really tight and then start tickling to see who falls out of the circle first! We do this quite often, and it really helps remind me what is most important, especially after a stressful day at work.
It is a silly little ritual but it warms my heart because it is a special moment for us as a family!
