I was first impressed with Virginia Lefler's initiative to not only write a book on this challenging subject, but also to develop a publishing company and a website http://www.silverdaypress.com to make it available to the public. Springing from the seed of a biblical conviction, the book is now in its second printing. Virginia's life of active love totally dismisses the assumptions of many women that a godly woman cannot be a woman of influence and submission at the same time. I was curious; I had to read her book, A Gentle & Quiet Spirit of Great Worth to God. Like many of you, I have heard many lessons and given many on 1 Peter 3, but I have never read one that captured my attention so quickly to why these qualities are "of great worth in God's sight."
A Gentle & Quiet Spirit, is a scholarly, challenging and inpiring study of these character traits that God values in a woman, according to 1 Peter 3. "Praus (gentle) describes a strong woman who is submitted to God's leadership and her husband's leadership. Hesuchios (quiet) describes a woman who is at peace with that." Virginia's study searches the thoughts and intents of our hearts while giving practical advice on moving our hearts and characters into alignment with God's.
