God is willing to generously give us wisdom if we ask Him.  Unfortunately, for some of us it takes a lifetime to learn to ask Him.  The wisdom God gives is applicable for everyday and all types of challenges.  Pray for wisdom; that is where we need to begin.  Often prayer is all that is needed.  Training yourself to distinguish God's wisdom vs man's can be difficult but studing the Bible will confirm God's true wisdom.  Use the helpful topical concordance in the back of your Bible.There is still a place for listening to the wisdom other Christians have gained. They too have prayed, searched and now wish to share the understanding God gave them. Proverbs is full of instruction from wise parents who remind their son to listen to their teachings.Proverbs 1:7-9

God encourages times of celebration and thankfulness which refresh our spirits. However, many times we enter this season with sagging spirits if we have not taken time daily to regain strength and perspective from God.  The follow daily thoughts were published last year and we had requests to republish them.  I pray they will help sustain you and strengthen you as you too celebrate a season set aside for giving and refocus on God's greatest gift to us--his son Jesus.

I was first impressed with Virginia Lefler's initiative to not only write a book on this challenging subject, but also to develop a publishing company and a website http://www.silverdaypress.com to make it available to the public.  Springing from the seed of a biblical conviction, the book is now in its second printing.  Virginia's life of active love totally dismisses the assumptions of many women that a godly woman cannot be a woman of influence and submission at the same time.  I was curious; I had to read her book, A Gentle & Quiet Spirit of Great Worth to God.  Like many of you, I have heard many lessons and given many on 1 Peter 3, but I have never read one that captured my attention so quickly to why these qualities are "of great worth in God's sight." 

A Gentle & Quiet Spirit, is a scholarly, challenging and inpiring study of these character traits that God values in a woman, according to 1 Peter 3.  "Praus (gentle) describes a strong woman who is submitted to God's leadership and her husband's leadership.  Hesuchios (quiet) describes a woman who is at peace with that."
